About

Meet Marybeth Davis
As a kid, Marybeth Davis created stories out of cotton balls in her bathroom sink. Having since wrestled through the throes of religion-focused OCD and come out the other side with her faith intact, she now writes intense fantasy for other Christians who want real hope in a dark world… and who would rather nerd out about magic systems than attend a Hillsong concert.
When she’s trying to avoid her manuscript like the procrastinator she is, you can find Marybeth pranking her friends, talking to her cat in Japanese, and reading found family fanfiction until two in the morning.
You will like my writing if...
-
You wish more books tackled tough topics (like abuse, family dysfunction, trauma psychology, and more) through a Christian lens
-
You like fresh, immersive worldbuilding… but don't want to need a master's degree to understand it
-
You want more fantasy with rich platonic relationships and romance that feels earned--without brushing past unhealthy dynamics

You will NOT like my writing if...
-
You're looking for a fluffy, light read with gentle stakes. I can recommend author friends of mine who write those books far better than I!
-
You're looking for spicy romance. I write by the rule that if your characters have to kiss for people to know they're in love, it's not actually love. But um. Sometimes I forget to let them kiss at all.
-
You're looking for romantasy in general. While many of my books do include romance to some degree, it's always a subplot, not the main focus.
-
You're looking for Principles of Quantum Mechanics by Ramamurti Shankar. If so… how did you even end up here?
